Fitting in (pun intended) some form of physical activity each day does not have to be such a chore. One of the biggest excuses ... oops! I mean reasons my clients give me for not exercising ... is not enough time, busy lives, hectic schedules, deadlines, kids, career, social life and the list goes on and on.Phooey! Honestly it becomes downright belly aching after a while. Adriana is part of my full-immersion Weight Loss Program and yes, her fitness schedule is basically 'her job' right now, but you can LEARN from Andriana's tenacity, determination (yes, of course she has bad days but she plows through them) - atta girl!!
What I am teaching Adriana is to find some mode of physical activity that she likes and make it WORK FOR HER!!!!! We are test driving many different types of exercise. And you know what! She is surprising herself that she actually likes some of the workouts.
Look, I don't care what the latest fitness fad is or what has gotten your girlfriend into 'the best shape of her life', if you don't see YOURSELF doing that activity then find something that you DO SEE YOURSELF DOING. That is where you start. Here are some suggestions to get those sneakers laced up and you out the door:
1. Go for a walk - super simple and why not fit in errands along the way. There you go - all you multi-taskers! Go on your lunch hour. Really, it only takes 10-minutes to eat lunch. Go after dinner and treat it as 'your time'. Leave the car at home and walk to work or at least park a 20-minute walk away from work. What a way to set the tone for your day!
2. Hope on your bike and go for a ride. Cycling is one of the best ways to ease into a fitness program. It's easy on the knees and not as daunting as some other modes of fitness - even if you're overweight - plus it's fun!
3. Buddy up with a friend and sign-up for a fitness class together. Try something new. Something that has interested you but you were to busy, too tired blah blah blah to get around to actually doing it. The buddy-system is a great way to get accountability - you will push and motivate each other - even if it's just to show up to class each week.
In addition to losing 22.8lbs, Adriana has has whittled away 16.25 inches from all over her body and shed 4.1% body fat.
